Indeed, we are so-called English teachers, and so our major is not medical science itself. Therefore, we need a lot of preparation for our classes. There is an academic society called “The Japan Society for Medical English Education” which aims to enhance medical students’ proficiency in English, based on Japan Medical English Education Guidelines. It is true that this society plays an important role in developing practical English ability in the field of medical science. However, since even medical English is English language itself, it should also have cultural and academic backgrounds or aspects with it.
